Site History Collapse/Expand
Site was constructed in 1962-3 as a long distance tower that had routes to Dekalb, and Lemont. In 1979, the tower got routes added to Plato Center and Wasco. The antennas that would face to the Lemont tower was a parabolic dish antenna and a Western Electric KS15676 horn antenna. The antenna that faced to Dekalb was a Western Electric KS15676 horn antenna while the antenna that faced to the Wasco tower was a periscope antenna that supported telephone calls only since the Wasco site was an intermediate radio site. In 1991 The Eola site was turned down as AT&T started switching to fiber optic cables. Then in 2012 the remaining antennas were removed from the tower to make space for cellular antennas and modern microwave.
