Located in the telecommunications corridor I fondly refer to as "the middle of nowhere," but what is commonly referred to as the "Black Rock Desert," Cricket Mountain Tower refers signals between Meadow Utah and Milford Utah. Located about a mile west of the Union Pacific main line to Los Angeles, this tower sits near a number of fiberoptic lines that have been laid by major telecom companies. In fact, the day I came past Cricket, a number of crews and equipment were out laying another one. Sited about a half mile from a FAA microwave tower, Cricket Mountain takes a westward signal from Meadow and bends it southward towards Milford. Another tower about 20 miles north of this one took a signal from Delta and sent it westward across the Nevada desert on its way to Oakland. ARCHIVED FROM PATH-PRESERVATION SITE
