Walking into Atlanta 03 Collapse/Expand
I've been building sites for AT&T MOBILITY (not Bellsouth, or Long Lines) for the last 15 years. Mobility has a site on the roof of this structure. I was tasked to take some pictures of the antennas. Instructions were to call ahead and make an appointment. I arrived at the specified day. There was only an intercom on the from door. I pushed the button and a disconnected voice asked who I was. I explained my business and the door buzzer opened and I walked back in time to a lobby that was set in the late 60's furniture and decor. But everything was CLEAN. Even stranger, I was the only one there, save for a few CCTV camera in the upper corners. It was 9AM on a Tuesday. Suddenly heard a phone ring on the receptionists' desk. There was a row of 5 handsets, so I picked up the one that was ringing. It was the same voice from the door intercom. They instructed me to go behind the desk and open the top drawer. In that drawer was 10 realtor-style key-lock boxes. the voice gave me the code for box #5. He said that key would open the paths of doors to access the rooftop.
As I made my way through this structure, I noticed there was not a soul in the building! It felt like I was walking through a tomb. I finished my business on the rooftop and made a hasty path to the front exit. What a trip!
